  • The Pinwheel Galaxy

    The Pinwheel Galaxy was imaged during March and April, 2023 and April 2024. The total imaging time was 25.7 hours. The Pinwheel Galaxy is located in the Ursa Major constellation. In May, 2023, a Supernova was detected in this galaxy: supernova SN 2023ixf.

  • Horsehead and Flame Nebulae

    The image below was processed using the SHO palette with PixInsight from data collected January 10, 12 and February 12, 13, 14 and 18, 2024.   • Pleiades

    Pleiades, also know as The Seven Sisters, Messier 45 or the Subaru Constellation. Located about 444 light-years from Earth, it is the closest Messier object to Earth. Imaged Nov 21 and 27, Dec 15, 2022.

  • Moon

    This image of the moon was taken about 1975 through the telescope on the roof of Kelly Thompson Hall on the campus of Western Kentucky University. The image was taken with an Argus-Cosina 35mm SLR on Tri-X Pan B/W film.

  • Markarian Chain

    Markarian’s Chain is a stretch of galaxies in part of the Virgo Cluster. Member galaxies include M84 (NGC 4374), M86 (NGC 4406), NGC 4477, NGC 4473, NGC 4461, NGC 4458, NGC 4438 and NGC 4435. Imaged April 12, 13 and 16, 2023.  

  • Andromeda Galaxy

    The Andromeda galaxy, or Messier 31, is the closest galaxy to earth at 2.5 million light-years away. Imaged Sept 9, Oct 25 and 30, 2022.
